The Principality Of The Coral Islands

PCI National Festival Of The Rings

Come celebreate the Festival Of The Rings with us in Lennach, Lakeshore Province

The Festival Of The Rings has been a tradition in the Principality Of The Coral Islands for two and a half centuries. It is the nation's most important sporting and entertainment competition. Every two years competitors from all over the PCI come together for a good-natured contest of skills. Tourists also flock to the event, making it the country's biggest and best week-long party. To coincide with the beginning of the Summer Holidays for all of the youth involved, the Festival Of The Rings is always held in the Summer.

This year, the lucky host city is Lennach, the capital of Lakeshore Province. Lennach is a beautiful settlement with a scenic waterfront. The city has built a new state-of-the-art stadium to host the event. As is precedent, some of the competitions will be held in the open air, at the City Square, at no cost.

The Festival Of The Rings began as a simple, run-of-the-mill town fair in Kacaka, Leidif Province, over 2V0 years ago. Now, it has become a sporting and entertainment event not to be missed. All of the Festival's events involve rings of some kind or another. From the large gym wheels to the small juggling rings, circles are always involved.

This year is especially special for the Festival. Although the PCI is more than 2V0 years old; it is the 12Vth Festival, meaning that they have been going on for two and a half centuries. As it is a special birthday, Lennach has vowed to throw a special birthday party. Nobody quite knows what they have planned, but the Mayor assures that it will be "Absolutely spectacular. Something totally unique." Whatever it is that the city of Lennach has planned, we want you to come see it.

The government wants everyone to be involved in the Festival this year. To that end, a free ferry from Port Mosaviu will leave for Lennach each morning at 3:00. The Festival will also be televised on CI Sat-7 for those unable to make it to Lennach. Join us for the 12Vth Festival Of The Rings!

Our National Sport: The Roku-Rings

One of the crowd's favourite events in the Festival is the competition of the country's national sport, the rhythmic gymnastic excercise known as the roku-rings. In this competition, five gymnasts each keep all five of the coloured rings attached to the steel ring spinning as they perform tricks; such as throws, reverses, passes, and many others. The gymnasts are also required to perform their own floor routine at the same time. It is a magical display of talent and concentration. The defending champion this year is Kint Province, but all provinces are introducing all-new teams. This "Everybody's game" could be anybody's game.

The song below is called Rise Of The Morning Star. It is played as the Roku-Ring competitors present themselves to the audience. This arrangement dates back to the 64th Festival Of The Rings, and is considered the original piece. Since that time, new versions have been arranged for each Festival.

"Participating in the Festival Of The Rings- That has to be one of the coolest things ever! When I'm out there I feel this connection with the other team members, and with the audience. Somehow, it becomes more than just what we practised, it becomes a celebration of soul and steel. I cannot wait to be in the audience next year to feel that again." ~Nazamar Kreise, Kint City Roku-Ring Team Member.
